Phantom of the Opera

Le Phantoeme' de Opera
(or something to that extent, pardon my horrible made-up French).

Ah, the phantom of the opera. Shall I regale my momentous past with this great piece of french literature? Dazzling and lovely. As a stage play and so on. Now, a movie. I've been waiting for this. I always loved the phantom, my own personal forbidden love. There was enigma, that illusion of him, invincibility. Like a god, an adonis divine. Marked, scarred, Torak-style though. He was still beautiful to me.
I just could never understand why Christine didn't love Erik. Sure he was a bit mad but his lovely, frightening devotion, protection and his music. Oh his music. The descriptions of Leroux still give me shivers.
Yet, this is not the point. Phantom's teaser trailer (click on the picture), is well, only a teaser. And not in the normal teaser style. Longer than most teasers and giving away a great deal, but with little words or voice-over, which appealed to me. Most of phantom was without words, it was the music that was over-powering and vital to the telling of the tragic tale. Cinematically, it deems wealthy of period style, music and an overfluous mood. Definitely my style. So I guess an 8/10. I deducted two marks because, it is a teaser and at times, seems just a montage of images from the film with no direction, no explanation. It lies too heavily with the phantom's own fame.
Enjoyable, nonetheless. So feast your eyes! Glut your soul on these delights!

Psst: The above italised bit is a quote from the book, if not recognised. I love that book. Great on a dark, stormy night where one feels rather depressed and lacking in love.

Harry Potter and Le Prisoner of Azkaban

Harry Poo-ter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

I've seen various trailers of this phenomenon and it is fair game that it should be my starting block.
Well first of all, from what I've seen (not taking in the plethora of excellent reviews), Cuaron has definitely made it darker if not more scarier. Those dementors, although unlike Shelob, are as creepy as Black Riders in their own right. The kids too, look grown up. While I have perused the few premiere pictures that have passed hands *blushes*, I will abstain from reflecting my bias and hate of all things Hermione. Things also seem to be keeping to the book although I have heard a few complaints my way, through various people. Mmm...all in all, a good trailer. Kept me wanting more, although I had read the book and could guess pretty much the rest of the storyline. No can deny that Cuaron is a good director, but he seems to give, from my POV, what Columbus neglected, bonding, emotion and that flow of love and magic that always flowed through JK's work, despite the errors. So a 9/10 for me. I deducted a mark because during the international trailer, at the end a Japanese voice over came on and said in a very clear loud voice: HARRY Poooter.
Giggles and chortles, so on. *wink*

First Post

Since this is the first post...

...I really don't know what to say. I'm sure I'll think of something. Thought it would be good to have a trailer blog since I watch every trailer under the earth. Maybe, when I have more time it'll become a movie blog too.

We'll see. As for now, champagne on the house! *winks*
